Position Responsibilities:

Seeking a highly organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented Purchasing Manager with experience working with a very large number of skus. A successful candidate has a great attitude and demonstrates strength in staff development and data analysis. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading our team of Purchasing Analysts to manage all purchasing activities for each division of the company. This position ensures that the company meets customers’ expectations of high quality product and complete and on-time delivery for an extensive catalog of items. This position reports to the General Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the purchasing team in coordinating with vendors, the internal product development teams, sales teams, and warehouse staff to maintain an uninterrupted supply chain
  • Plan and execute orders for initial rollouts for all key customers in conjunction with sales managers and make certain that initial set orders are filled 100% and on time
  • Work with sales team to accurately forecast future product demand and ensure purchasing analysts maintain a replenishment cycle schedule to maintain high fill rates on reorders without holding excess inventory
  • Evaluate and approve domestic and international purchase orders created by the team
  • Provide direction to overseas Merchandising Manager to coordinate projects with overseas suppliers
  • Track all critical orders to guarantee milestone dates are met and follow up with factories to resolve production or quality issues escalated to a management level
  • Collaborate with QC team to assess chargebacks for vendor non-compliance, develop long term solutions with suppliers, and continue to expand knowledge in regulatory matters that pertain to the industry
  • Evaluate potential new suppliers and maintain ongoing vendor business relationships
  • Develop metrics to track supplier performance related to delivery, quality and cost
  • Impact the bottom line in a positive manner by successfully negotiating costs with product vendors and service providers and reducing the need for expedited shipments
  • Offer feedback and direction to help team achieve objectives and develop training material for new projects
  • Analyze large amounts of data from various sources to make critical decisions and create customized reports for senior management

  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Skilled in the use of software programs such as MS Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to excel at details, multi-tasking and working under tight timelines
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a positive, results driven, team- oriented environment
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally if required (Must be able to obtain U.S. passport)
  • Strong sense of urgency and responsibility in meeting deadlines to successfully manage multiple projects
  • Ability to work past standard office hours to communicate with vendors when necessary
  • Proven ability to deep dive and create new solutions to improve business processes

  • At least 5 years of experience in a management role in a related field
  • Experience managing thousands of SKUs for a consumer products company
  • Experience communicating with multiple international suppliers
  • Experience in creating procurement systems and tools
