Position Responsibilities:
As the National Sales Manager you will have the key responsibility of sales growth through the management of a network of 25 independent sales representatives, inside sales and customer service teams. You will also have front line responsibility for certain key house accounts.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining a national network of competent sales representatives and ensuring that the company’s sales goals are achieved.
- Establish sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual and monthly sales goals for all territories.
- Communicate goals to sales representatives and manage using monthly reporting and checkpoints to ensure on-track performance.
- Manage, develop and coach the sales force to grow their sales through continuous skill improvement.
- Train sales representatives on presentation standards and expectations. Track results and modify where necessary.
- Evaluate field representative performance and identify strong and underperforming territories.
- Develop and implement new processes, tools and communications for sales team.
- Monitor feedback to ensure sales team communications are frequent and meaningful.
- Prepare annual evaluations for all sales representatives focusing on achievements, shortfalls, opportunities and threats to their business outlook.
- Develop and maintain superior business relationships with independently-owned retailers, and product suppliers.
- Prepare and conduct sales and product presentations to accounts/prospects under house assignment.
- Identify key revenue programs, determine and share best practices for all sales associates and customer service teams.
- Manage bi-annual Portland Warehouse sales events. Coordinate/perform all sales activities including sales meetings and customer communications regarding these events.
- Manage industry trade shows. Coordinate all sales team activities, travel, appointments, goals, and sales meetings.
- Work with management to continuously improve policies and procedures.
- Analyze workload and activities in Customer Service. Use tools to review phone activity and time spent with walk-in customers.

Experience Required:
- 5 years' experience selling consumer products into retail
- 4 years' experience managing sales representatives
- Knowledge and experience in textile, sewing, or notions industry.
- Experience with strategic forecasting and analysis.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers, sales representatives and all levels of company personnel.
- Experience with staffing and hiring a sales team
