Position Responsibilities:

The Sales Manager will drive growth by working collaboratively with internal departments, customers and sales representatives to develop insight driven sales plans and implementing effective sales activities. This role is responsible for managing both house accounts as well as external sales representatives across the country.

  • Develop a firm understanding of the company’s product portfolio and the competitive posture of the company; keep up-to-date with industry knowledge and price trends.
  • Identifying business opportunities with current and prospective customers.
  • Collect sales data, information and statistics; analyze both quantitative and qualitative inputs to feed sales activities and decisions.
  • Manage multiple accounts & product categories in an Omni-Channel environment. Maintain relationships with larger clients by providing information, support and guidance
  • Be an experienced team leader, managing day-to-day activities, resources and priorities; mentor team members and lead by example.
  • Manage independent sales reps. This includes setting goals and targets, improving sales practices, sales analysis, developing accounts, communications, developing presentations and driving growth.
  • Act as a key point of contact to internal departments including Creative, Marketing, Finance and Operations.
  • Put in place effective sales management practices that motivate and encourage profitable growth of all product lines. Establish clear accountability for performance and growth.
  • Develop account plans and presentations that are based on sales patterns, competitive issues and present the best sales opportunities.
  • Manage communications of marketing plans and product programs to ensure direct translation of selling presentations
  • Travel to attend & participate in trade-shows, attend conferences, and visit customers and/or sales reps.

Experience Required:
  • 6-8+ years retail channel account management (brick & mortar, ecommerce or both) or equivalent experience. 
  • 3-5+ years of leadership experience. 
  • Working knowledge of Amazon, FBA a plus.
  • Established record of meeting/exceeding sales targets. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team in a dynamic sales environment. 
  • Solid prospecting and cold calling abilities and excellent customer relationship skills, proactive at following up with prospective customers.
  • Proficient in MS Office, excellent presentation, written and overall communication skills.   
  • Knowledge of or experience in the Craft Industry helpful but not required.

4 reports (3 direct all managing accounts/channels; 1 indirect sales assistant); will have influence on hiring/firing but all staffing decision will be approved by me. Sales reps are independent reps. Our in-house accounts are managed by account/channel leads and include distributors, Amazon, TV Shopping, etc. We have an Amazon lead reporting to this role as well as an independent sales rep assisting in execution.
